<h2>The Brute</h2><p>As the direct appointed successor to his father, Pharaoh Merneptah, Seti has no patience for the instability that threatens the foundations of the Kingdom. He is so close to power that he can taste it, and his impatience is mirrored by his ferocity. No other ruler is so willing nor so quick to fight, and he does so with maximum aggression. Seti has little time for diplomacy, preferring instead to do his talking on the battlefield. He sees few problems that are not resolved by crushing his enemies.</p><h2>Play style</h2><p>Seeks to overwhelm opponents in battle; quick and easy expansion; no interest in diplomacy.</p><h2>Unit style</h2><p>High numbers of cheaper, weaker units; expendable units; risks running low on units after losses.</p>

<h2>The Paragon</h2><p>Historically the last great monarch of Egypt’s New Kingdom, Ramesses is regarded as a true ‘Warrior Pharaoh’ whose daring military strategies are matched only by his heroic resolve. Fuelled by his desire to surpass the achievements of his namesake, Ramesses II the Great, he leads with speed and intuition that give his armies of well-honed Elite units the upper hand even against numerically superior opponents. He strongly believes destiny calls him to take the throne and deliver Egypt in a time of crisis and a looming existential threat.</p><h2>Play Style</h2><p>Quick progress; flexible and plentiful resources; ideal for new players.</p><h2>Unit Style</h2><p>Elite and adaptable; strong medium infantry and archers; charging chariots; losses are additionally damaging.</p>

<h2>The Gilded</h2><p>Little is known of the fifth Pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty, who is recorded as being a son of King Merneptah and once stood as presumptive heir. As a headstrong member of the royal family who gained considerable wealth by controlling many of Egypt’s gold mines, he remains bitter that he was passed up in the line of succession. Instead, he received a distant posting as Viceroy of Kush, while his half-brother Seti was favoured. Amenmesse’s ambition to stake his claim is matched only by his access to Egypt’s vast riches. Wise and worldly and less aloof than many leaders, his willingness to ally with foreigners gives him a further edge over his rivals.</p><h2>Playstyle</h2><p>Access to vast wealth; safe starting location; susceptible to rebellions.</p><h2>Unit Roster</h2><p>Very strong archers; can defeat rivals from a distance; units are expensive.</p><p></p>

<h2>The Strategist</h2><p>Tausret is a brilliant political figure who will focus on claiming the throne if her husband Seti proves incapable of dealing with the responsibilities of the crown. A life spent battling prejudice has made her strong and resilient in all matters, be they diplomacy, finance or war. Few realise her genius, as the focus at court has been directed to the male heirs – which could prove a very grave mistake. Tausret’s faction can quickly become the region’s dominant economic force if left unchecked by opponents for too long.</p><h2>Play style</h2><p>Defensive; powerful economic and regional synergies; early Nile access; failures can quickly snowball.</p><h2>Unit style</h2><p>The best chariot faction; can achieve the strongest army composition given time.</p>

<h2>The Ravager</h2><p>Irsu’s destructive Canaanite faction sees no glory in unity and harmony. Some people, as the saying goes, just want to watch the world burn. Irsu strives to bring Egypt to its knees – he’s set on plundering the gold mines, defacing the Valley of Kings and then finding his next conquest. He’s a fatalist, albeit one who strongly believes that he himself is fated to bring about the end of Egypt’s reign. To achieve his goals, he seeks to profit from everyone else’s misfortune, and to him civil war is his greatest opportunity yet. With no interest in monuments or legacy, Irsu’s vision of glory is the ruin of Egypt and all who would rule it in his place.</p><h2>Play style</h2><p>Sacking and plundering; vast profits from battle; little land ownership; resources dry up if he stops fighting.</p><h2><span>Unit style</span></h2><p>Tough, heavy units; strong armour; fast recruitment.</p>

<h2>The Schemer</h2><p>Bay is the supreme survivor and master manipulator. Appearing weak and friendly to deceive his adversaries comes naturally to Bay, who is tired of watching the spoils of High Egyptian society from afar. As a low-born Canaanite, he understands that true power can be won through relationships as much as it can in battle. He may choose to rule Egypt via a puppet Pharaoh or assume a royal name to veil his foreign heritage. The rewards for being his ally are vast… at first. But it will not be long before he starts to take far more than he ever gave.</p><h2>Play style</h2><p>Master of intrigues and court politics; strong diplomacy; often outmatched in battle.</p><h2>Unit style</h2><p>Strong ambushers; access to Vanguard Deployment, Stalk and Sneak; weak face-to-face units and chariots; can take units from others.</p>

<h2>The Defender</h2><p>The last Great King of the Hittites met an unknown end during the collapse of the Bronze Age. Players looking to rewrite history will need to be resourceful and skilled to unite the Hittite Empire against the growing chaos. Suppiluliuma faces dire circumstances and limited resources while being attacked on multiple fronts. Fortunately, his honourable nature, noble connections and reputation as a great warrior allow him to rally local kingdoms to his cause – and such alliances could yet see him prevail. He would happily live a life of peace were it not for his burning desire to ensure that Kurunta, whom he blames for all the world’s ills, doesn’t ascend to the throne and bring disaster to their homelands.</p><h2>Play Style</h2><p>Measured campaign pace; frequent battles; faces war on multiple fronts; fragile economy.</p><h2>Unit Style</h2><p>Numerous medium and heavy units; powerful chariots; strong defence; weak ranged options.</p>

<h2>The Usurper</h2><p>Kurunta is a power-hungry secessionist with certain psychopathic tendencies. Suppiluliuma’s older relative, who has been a force of chaos in the Hittite court for decades, believes himself to be the avatar of a god and shouldn’t be expected to be humble or forgiving. Unbound by conscience and believing that warfare exists without rules, there is no advantage Kurunta will not exploit and no cost he will not pay. His only ambition is to see Suppiluliuma defeated and the lands of Anatolia following his every whim.</p><h2>Play Style</h2><p>Sabotage, assassination, good at plots; exploiting weakness outside of battle; struggles in direct engagements.</p><h2>Unit Style</h2><p>Mercenaries; heavily armoured units; frontal assaults; no ranged units.</p>
